  • What is the ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition?
    ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition gives America’s undiscovered actors a chance to showcase their talent. For complete details, check out the competition’s Official Rules.

  • Who can enter the ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition?
    The contest is only open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years old and who possess the unrestricted right to work in the United States. Neither an entrant nor their immediate family members and/or household members may have, within six (6) months prior to the start date of the contest, performed material services for ABC or any other entities involved with the contest.

  • When can I enter the contest?
    The entry period begins on September 10, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. PT and ends on September 24, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. PT at www.ABCDiscovers.com.

  • What are the entry limits?
    There is a limit of one (1) entry per person.

  • What must I include in my video submission?
    Your video submission must consist of two parts: your “Introduction” and your “Performance.” The total length of your video, which includes your Introduction and Performance, should not exceed 5 minutes.

    The Introduction:

    • We recommend that your Introduction not exceed 1 minute.
    • State your first name only and where you’re from (do not include any other personal information such as phone numbers or email addresses).
    • Provide your answer the following prompt/question: “One thing I want you to know about me is…”
    The Performance – this should immediately follow your Introduction:
    • Your Performance must be from one of the scenes provided for your gender from the scripts provided (male entrants will perform male parts and female entrants will perform female parts).
    • For each gender, there are 6 scripts to choose from. The scene selections include both comedic and dramatic roles.
    • Once you pick a scene, you will perform the part of a single character designated in that scene material.

  • Do I only read my part, or should I read the other parts in the script as well?
    You should only read the designated part of one character from the script you select. You must have one (1) person off-camera reading the other parts/lines of your chosen script. This person must be off-camera, must be at least 18 and you must have that person’s written permission to include him/her in your contest video.

  • What are the video restrictions?
    You’ll want to check the Official Rules for full details and restrictions, but all video submissions:

    • Must be original (“original” refers to your reading and interpretation of the script);
    • May not include any music;
    • Must not contain content that is obscene, indecent or offensive;
    • Must be submitted during the entry period (i.e., between September 10, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. PT and September 24, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. PT).

  • What are the time/size/formatting requirements for my entry video?

    • We recommend that your Introduction portion of your video not exceed one (1) minute and that the total length of your video not exceed (5) minutes in length.
    • Video submissions must be in one of the following formats: MOV, AVI, MPEG, MPG, MP4, FLV, M4V, WMV, or 3GP.
    • Video submission must be no lower than 400 x 300.
    • Video submission file cannot exceed 500 MB in size.
  • How do I submit my video?
    Once you’ve recorded your video, visit www.ABCDiscovers.com to enter.

    Complete the entry form and follow the instructions to submit your entry. You will need to click the two check boxes on the entry form signifying that you: (1) are at least 18 years old, meet the Contest eligibility requirements and have read and agree to the contest Official Rules and (2) have read and agree to ABC’s Terms of Use.

  • How will the winner be chosen?

    Initial Review
    All eligible submissions will be judged using the following three (3) equally weighted criteria: quality of performance, technical skill set and potential star quality.

    After this initial review, ABC will select a group of up to ten (10) potential Finalists. These potential Finalists will be contacted and required to submit a second video consisting of an additional Performance. ABC will provide each potential Finalist with additional instructions and the scene material at the time of notification, along with all of the necessary paperwork to be confirmed as a Finalist.

    Finalist Review
    ABC will review the additional Performance videos submitted by the Finalists to select the Grand Prize Winner by applying the judging criteria above.

  • When will I know if I am selected as a potential Finalist?
    Potential Finalists will be notified using the contact information provided at the time of entry beginning the week of October 22, 2018.

  • What happens if I am selected as a potential Finalist?
    If selected as a potential Finalist, you will be required to submit (1) a second video consisting of an additional Performance, and (2) all of the necessary paperwork that you will need to complete and return in order to be confirmed as a Finalist. Potential Finalists will be provided with additional instructions and the scene material at the time of notification.

    The Finalist paperwork includes documents such as an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release and Indemnification, Grant of Rights, a Publicity Release, ABC’s talent holding agreement and any other documents or releases required to be confirmed as a Finalist. You will have five (5) business days from when you are sent the Finalist paperwork and additional scene material to complete and return all required documents and submit your second Performance, which is required in order to be confirmed as a Finalist.

  • How do I find out if I’ve won?
    The winner will be announced on www.ABCDiscovers.com on November 14, 2018.

  • What is the prize?
    The Grand Prize winner will receive a one-year $25,000 talent holding agreement with ABC.
